How does it feel watching the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton match as it happened? Well, awesome!
I was not in Las Vegas during the fight but we watched a live feed at the Mag.net Cafe courtesy of Nike Philippines at Bonifacio High street. Seeing fellow Filipinos cheer with every punch Manny Pacquiao landed on the Briton, and people booing when Hatton was entering the ring, I could almost feel the intensity we witnessed via the live feed.
Too bad the fight was too short.
We managed to interview a British fan during the fight. He says, “If Manny gets close to Hatton, he’ll be dead.” But after receiving 73 punches from Pacquiao and eventually getting knocked out in the last 10 seconds of the second round, we again saw the British fan who happens to live in Manchester–same place as Hatton. He was all smiles now, as he jokingly declares, “He’s the best! Manny for president.”
For a few hours, the world seemed to have stopped, as we witnessed two of the world’s best fighters battle it out. We almost forgot that just a few days ago, we’ve been hit hard by news of the swine flu now called A (H1N1), pandemic which threatens the world.
Pacquiao has once again proven that he deserved the title of best pound per pound fighter and probably the best fighter of all time.
